The National Technical University of Ukraine Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (“KPI named after Igor Sikorsky”) is an institution of higher engineering education founded in Kyiv in 1898.  Today it is one of the largest universities in Ukraine in terms of the number of students with a wide range of specialties and educational programs for training technical and humanities specialists

The University includes the Educational and Scientific Institute of Nuclear and Thermal Energy, KPI named after Igor Sikorsky. The scientific direction of the Institute is nuclear safety. the field of research and development – physical protection, internal threat, security culture.

The activities of the Educational and Research Institute of Institute of Nuclear and Thermal Energy will be carried out on the basis of existing departments, as well as on the basis of new divisions:

  • Educational and Research Centre of NPP’s Reliability and Safety (jointly with the State Enterprise «National Nuclear Energy Generating Company «Energoatom» and the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety);
  • Educational and Scientific Center for Nuclear Security Support (jointly with the Institute of Nuclear Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine);
  • Scientific and Research (Experimental) Laboratory of Processes in Energy Equipment
  • Educational and Scientific Laboratory of Computer Modelling in Energy
  • Educational and Scientific Laboratory of Methodological Support of Internet Technologies in Energy

The institute has 5 departments, one of which is the Department of Nuclear Energy.

Students get physico-mathematical, computer and engineering training, knowledge of foreign languages and ability to work with modern software codes.

Students are trained to operate nuclear power plants, model neutron-physical and thermohydraulic processes in nuclear power plant equipment and solve problems of reliability and safety of nuclear power facilities.

Students study modern software products and programming languages: AutoCAD, Inventor, MathCad, ANSYS-Fluent, SolidWorks and Python, C++.
