LLC “Analytical Research Bureau for Nuclear Power Plant Safety” is the Ukrainian nuclear engineering company dealing with state-of-the-art analyses in the field of substantiation and enhancement of safety of nuclear power plants, other nuclear facilities and complex industrial facilities.

It has been established and staffed by the nuclear safety engineers of the former subsidiary of the State Scientific and Technical Center on Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC), the TSO for the Ukrainian regulatory authority.

The core of the company staff is composed of the nuclear scientists and engineers with previous experience of employment at NPPs, in specialized design institutions, at the regulatory body and its TSO, in National Academy of Science. ARB has a qualified engineering staff with unique combination of practical experience in providing technical support to the regulatory authorities and conducting analytical studies for the nuclear operators in Ukraine and abroad.

The company has sufficient capacity and is able to perform researches and calculations using such state-of-the art codes, as:

  • ATHLET, ATHLET-СD – thermal-hydraulic system code for modeling of thermal-hydraulic processes in reactor and reactor facility;
  • RELAP5 (MOD3.1, MOD3.2) – software tool for modeling of thermal-hydraulic processes in reactor and reactor facility;
  • COCOSYS – software tool for processes analysis in containment during design and beyond design basis accidents;
  • SAPHIRE – probabilistic risk and reliability assessment software tool.
  • MELCOR – software tool for analysis of processes in accidents with core damage;
  • Number of other software tools.

The projects of the LLC “Analytical Research Bureau for Nuclear Power Plant Safety”:

Leading specialists have many-years experience of participating in large international research projects, including IAEA co-ordinated research projects, US DOE In-depth Safety Assessment projects, EC International Nuclear Safety Programme (TACIS, INSP), FP7 (e.g., ASAMPSA-2) and Horizon 2020.

  • Detailed analysis of primary circuit makeup at blackout and/or loss of ultimate heat sink for Rivne NPP Unit 1;
  • Analysis of the possibility of implementing a strategy for localizing the melt in the reactor vessel for power units from РУ В-213 /// Evaluation of in-vessel debris localization strategy for V-213 reactor facilities; ВЫБРАТЬ ВАРИАНТ!
  • Thermal-hydraulic analysis for substantiation of allowed number of loading cycles for equipment and pipelines of South-Ukrainian NPP Unit 1 for purposes of lifetime extension up to 60 years;
  • Examination of the technical documentation of the Kozloduy NPP unit 6 project (Bulgaria): Development of an improved nuclear fuel cycle and substantiation for the safe operation of units 5 and 6 of the Kozloduy NPP with modified nuclear fuel at a capacity of 3120 MW;
  • Substantiation of critical safety functions for accident instructions related to implementation of new fuel (ТВС-WR) for unit 5 of Zaporyzhzhya NPP;
  • Calculations of specific activity and volume of water generated due to beyond design basis accidents. Radiation risk assessment in case of BDBA;
  • Development of thermal-hydraulic model for reactor facility of unit 3 of Zaporyzhzhya NPP and calculations for specific operating modes related to prolongation of life cycle above 30 years;
  • Development of guidelines for operating personnel to manage emergency situations (accidents) within the framework of accident instructions /ИЛА (СОАИ), their substantiation based on the results of the analysis of modifications, modernizations, strategies for eliminating accidents at power units No.1, 2 ВП РАЕС/of Zaporyzhzhya NPP;
  • Adaptation for power unit No. 3 ВП РАЕС/ of Zaporyzhzhya NPP of the algorithm of the accident management system with the flow of coolant from the first circuit to the second circuit (СУА ТПКД) implemented at power unit No. 4 ВП РАЕС/ of Zaporyzhzhya NPP.
