Institute for Nuclear Research of the NAS of Ukraine (INR) was founded on March 26, 1970. It has 27 scientific and scientific and technical departments. The work of scientific departments, in accordance with the INR Statute, is coordinated through the sections of the Institute’s academic council in the following scientific directions:

  • nuclear physics, physics of elementary particles and high energies;
  • nuclear energy;
  •  radiation physics and reactor materials science;
  • plasma physics and controlled fusion;
  • nuclear, radiation and man-made environmental safety.

The main research infrastructure (fission & fusion)

  •  research nuclear reactor VVR-M with “hot” chambers,
  •  isochronous cyclotronU-240 ,
  • electrostatic accelerator EGP-10K – tandem generator,
  •  cyclotronU-120,
  •  heavy protective boxes,
  •  tritium laboratory;
  •  electron accelerator,
  •  other installations and complexes of experimental equipment for carrying out work in the scientific directions of the Institute.
