From 25 August to 6 September 2025, lecturers from Ukrainian universities specialising in nuclear education took part in training on the use of the ASKO e-learning system, developed by the Ukrainian company ASOT for the needs of SE “NNEGC “Energoatom”.
The training was organised within the framework of the international project NURECAB “Enhancing Nuclear Research and Education Capacities EU–Ukraine”, aimed at strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union in nuclear science and education, modernising academic programmes, and preparing a new generation of specialists for the sector.
One of the objectives of the project, for which the training was aimed, is to reduce the gaps between the knowledge provided by Ukrainian higher education institutions in nuclear specialties and the needs of the nuclear sector of Ukraine.
The main objective of the training was to integrate the ASKO system into the educational process of Ukrainian universities, aligning student training with the requirements of the nuclear industry. Participants received access to the first two learning modules developed by Energoatom experts:
- Safety Engineering
- General Knowledge.
This will enable students, already during their studies, to acquire knowledge and competences and to understand the requirements necessary for working at Ukrainian nuclear power plants, which are part of the country’s largest employer in the nuclear sector – SE “NNEGC “Energoatom”.

A total of 20 lecturers from six universities – members of the NURECAB consortium – took part in the training:
- V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University
- National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”
- National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”
- Odesa Polytechnic National University
- Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv
- and, by agreement between the NURECAB consortium and the developer, the company ASOT, lecturers from Lviv Polytechnic National University also joined the training.
Within the NURECAB project, a central access point to the ASKO system will be established at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”. It will provide 24/7 access for lecturers and students of all participating universities to training modules and knowledge assessment tools.
The NURECAB project (GA#101173510) is funded by the European Union under the Euratom Research and Training Programme (EURATOM, HORIZON EUROPE).
