The ITER Organization (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) has published a new comprehensive reference volume — ITER Engineering Basis Handbook.

This book serves as a detailed guide to the engineering foundations of the ITER project. It is a standalone compilation that presents:

  • the fundamental design principles of ITER;
  • the core technical foundations of the project and their evolution from concept to construction;
  • the technical, scientific, and regulatory justifications underlying key engineering decisions;
  • practical experience gained in implementing one of the largest and most complex international scientific and engineering projects in the field of nuclear fusion.

The ITER Engineering Basis Handbook is intended to preserve accumulated knowledge and ensure the transfer of expertise from the world’s largest fusion energy project. The publication is based on the direct experience of leading experts who have worked on ITER and is designed to benefit fusion specialists both within and beyond the ITER framework, as well as the next generation of scientists and engineers.
