On 27 May 2026, at the invitation of Ivan Franko Drohobych State Pedagogical University and within the framework of the XII International Conference Topical Problems of Semiconductor Physics, the information event “Horizon Europe: Current Issues and Broadening Participation” was held.

The event took place in a hybrid format — both online and offline — and brought together representatives of the scientific and academic community interested in the opportunities offered by the Horizon Europe Programme, the preparation of international projects, and the development of international scientific cooperation. A total of 13 participants attended the event.

The opening remarks were delivered by Liubomyr Nykyruy, Head of the National Contact Point “Joint Research Centre” and Head of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. During the introductory session, he presented the seminar programme and conducted a survey among participants regarding their experience in international projects and their needs in the field of grant support.

During the event, participants became acquainted with the practical aspects of preparing international project proposals, the specifics of consortium building, and opportunities for participation in Horizon Europe calls.

Tetiana Popova, Head of the NCP “Legal and Financial Aspects” and “European Research Council”, as well as Head of the Project Coordination Department at Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, delivered a presentation on consortium building and partner search. Her speech addressed mechanisms for establishing international cooperation, creating partnership networks, and using tools to identify potential project partners.

Sergii Pugach, Head of the NCP “Euratom Fission”, Head of the Sector for Market Research, Technology Transfer and Commercialisation of Scientific and Technical Developments at the National Science Center “Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology” of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, delivered a presentation entitled “Creating a Project Proposal: From Structure to Content”. Participants received practical recommendations on preparing high-quality project applications, structuring proposal materials, developing key sections, and taking into account the evaluation criteria of Horizon Europe projects.

Special attention was devoted to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) programme. Iryna Shteimiller, Head of the MSCA NCP and Director of the International Cooperation Center at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, informed participants about current calls, opportunities supporting researcher mobility, and prospects for international scientific cooperation for Ukrainian researchers.

At the conclusion of the event, Liubomyr Nykyruy presented an overview of current Horizon Europe calls specifically selected for researchers of Ivan Franko Drohobych State Pedagogical University.

During the information event, participants had the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers and discuss practical aspects of the participation of Ukrainian research institutions in international grant programmes. The event became a platform for exchanging experience, developing professional contacts, and promoting the opportunities of European programmes supporting science and innovation among the Ukrainian academic community.
