On July 7–11, 2025, the 51st EPS Conference on Plasma Physics will take place in Vilnius. In preparation for this major event, the Programme Committee held its official meeting on March 5–6, 2025.

The meeting brought together committee members and scientific experts from the United States, Italy, Norway, Spain, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Portugal, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Finland, and Ukraine, as well as the Chair and members of the Plasma Physics Division of the European Physical Society.

Ukraine was represented by Yurii Kovtun, Head of the Plasma Physics Laboratory at the Institute of Plasma Physics, National Science Center “Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology” (NSC KIPT), who also serves as the National Contact Point (NCP) for Euratom in the field of fusion.

During the meeting, the final selection of abstracts submitted to the conference was carried out, and the scientific programme for EPS2025 was officially formed. Ukrainian scientists are among the selected presenters whose work will be featured at the conference.

The EPS Conference on Plasma Physics is Europe’s largest annual event dedicated to plasma physics and fusion research. Ukraine’s participation in both the Programme Committee and the conference itself marks an important step in integrating Ukrainian research institutions into the European Research Area. This engagement is actively supported by the Euratom NCP activity in Ukraine.

The committee meeting also provided a valuable opportunity for direct communication with representatives of the European Physical Society and leading scientists from the EU and the US working in plasma physics and controlled nuclear fusion.
