On 6 March 2026, the 10th General Assembly of the European Nuclear Education Network (ENEN) took place in Brussels. This key annual event brings together leading European organisations working in the fields of nuclear education, professional training, and sectoral development.
The event gathered representatives of universities, research institutions, international organisations, and partner institutions. Among the participants were also representatives of the NURECAB project consortium, who joined discussions on the strategic directions for the development of nuclear education in Europe and the strengthening of international cooperation.

The ENEN General Assembly traditionally serves as an important platform for reviewing the organisation’s activities, adopting strategic decisions, and discussing new initiatives in the field of nuclear workforce education and training.

One of the key parts of the programme was the presentation by the European Commission representativeDomenico Rossetti di Valdalbero, who provided an overview of the Euratom Work Programme 2026–2027 and offered insights into the longer-term perspective of the next EU Framework Programme 2028–2034. Strategic priorities and the budget of the Euratom Programme for 2028–2034 were discussed, including plans to double funding for research in the areas of nuclear fission and fusion compared to the current programme.
During the meeting, participants addressed a number of important topics, including:
- strategic updates from the European Commission;
- plans for nuclear education and training programmes presented by the Joint Research Centre (JRC);
- initiatives in nuclear education and training, including Skills4Nuclear, SENSETT, and GREAT-PIONEeR;
- administrative aspects of ENEN activities (reporting, new members, and elected positions).
Particular attention was given to the expansion of the ENEN network. During the Assembly, several new members and partners from different countries were admitted to the organisation, including universities, governmental institutions, and representatives of the energy sector. From Ukraine, the organisation Energy Safety Group joined the network, marking another step toward strengthening the participation of Ukrainian expert and research institutions in European cooperation in the fields of nuclear energy and safety.

The participation of Ukrainian representatives in the ENEN events and the General Assembly was made possible thanks to the NURECAB project. Such international events contribute to the integration of the Ukrainian scientific and educational community into the European education area and open new opportunities for developing partnerships.
