On 20 January 2026, the RIFF (Research Infrastructure for Future) Project Information Day will take place in Kharkiv.

The RIFF project aims to renew and modernise Ukraine’s research and innovation (R&I) system by developing a contemporary, forward-looking vision for the advancement of national research infrastructures (RIs). A key outcome of the project is the development of the “Roadmap for the Recovery and Development of Research Infrastructures of Ukraine”, which is based on the ESFRI expert evaluation methodology and takes into account the priorities of the green and digital transitions.

The Information Day in Kharkiv is part of a series of RIFF Information Days held in various cities across Ukraine with the aim to:

  • present the European approach to understanding and developing research infrastructures;
  • inform stakeholders about the opportunities that the RIFF project offers to Ukrainian research infrastructures;
  • strengthen links between Ukrainian researchers, RI managers, and the European research community.

The RIFF project seeks to enhance scientific excellence, stimulate innovation, and foster cooperation among academic, industrial, and public stakeholders. Events such as the Information Day play a crucial role in bringing these communities together, facilitating knowledge exchange, and defining future strategic priorities for the development of research infrastructures in Ukraine.

The event is intended for researchers; heads and managers of research institutions, laboratories, and research infrastructures; as well as representatives of public authorities and professionals involved in shaping science and innovation policy.

During the Information Day, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • receive a comprehensive overview of the RIFF project, including its objectives and key areas of activity;
  • learn how to become involved in RIFF project initiatives;
  • become familiar with the European approach to the development of research infrastructures;
  • establish contacts with representatives of the Ukrainian and EU research infrastructure communities;
  • gain access to opportunities for participation in project initiatives, training programmes, mobility schemes, and knowledge exchange with European research infrastructures.
