The Ukrainian Nuclear Society, in cooperation with SE “NNEGC Energoatom,” organized two large-scale events to introduce young people to career development opportunities in the nuclear energy sector within the framework of the NURECAB project (EU-UA Nuclear Research and Education Capacity Building, Euratom, Horizon Europe, GA#101173510).
On February 25, 2025, an online seminar for teachers, “Opportunities for Youth in the Nuclear Sector,” took place. The event aimed to familiarize educators with educational and employment prospects for young people in the nuclear field, as well as to provide reliable information on the current state and development of nuclear energy. The event was held within the NURECAB project and gathered over 60 educators from various regions of Ukraine.
The speakers—Danylo Lavrenov, Executive Secretary of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society; Roman Zibnitskyi, Head of the Public Relations Department at the Strategic Communications Directorate of NNEGC Energoatom; and Inna Afanasieva, Associate Professor at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University—discussed key aspects of the nuclear industry, professional training opportunities, and employment conditions.
During the seminar, a digital educational guide on nuclear energy, “Navigating the Nuclear Industry,” was presented. The guide was adapted for Ukrainian schools based on materials from the American Nuclear Society and is designed to engage students in studying nuclear energy.

On February 27, 2025, the “Energy Future” career event took place, bringing together over 130 students from leading Ukrainian universities. The event aimed to introduce young people to employment, internship, and career development opportunities in the nuclear sector.
The event was held in a hybrid format: more than 30 students visited the NNEGC Energoatom office in person, while the rest joined via online streaming. Participants received detailed information about the requirements for young professionals, available job openings, and internship opportunities.
The meeting was opened by Vladyslav Yanishievskyi, HR Director of NNEGC Energoatom, who emphasized the importance of attracting young specialists to the industry. Welcome remarks were also given by Danylo Lavrenov, Executive Secretary of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society, and Serhii Pugach, Coordinator of the EURATOM National Contact Point in Ukraine.
Special attention was given to workforce development in connection with the completion of power units №3 and №4 of the Khmelnytskyi NPP. The event provided students with the opportunity to engage directly with representatives of leading companies in the nuclear sector, including Impulse Research and Production Association, Radіy Research and Production Enterprise, Institute for Nuclear Research, Kyiv Research and Design Institute “Energoproject,” and others.
Both events demonstrated the strong interest of young professionals in career opportunities in the nuclear industry and underscored the importance of such initiatives for the development of nuclear energy in Ukraine.

The events were organized with the support of the NURECAB project (Euratom, Horizon Europe, GA#101173510).
